Dear Family and
Friends,
As many of you know, last August, I spent two weeks with my best friend, Veronica,
visiting old family friends of mine, Jennifer and Eric, in Chiang Mai,
Thailand. After meeting Connie, who ran the foster home we worked in,
as well as others throughout my time in Thailand, it really cemented my draw to
the missionary life.
This last year I have been at CSU Monterey
Bay, in the Multiple Subject Teaching Credential program and student teaching
in both a First and Fourth grade classroom. But now, God has provided a way to
combine my love of teaching and my desire to live an ‘out of the box’ life. I
have been accepted to a Second Grade Teaching position at Grace International
School (GIS) in Chiang Mai, Thailand.
GIS is a private, international school that
caters to a large percentage of Missionary families. This is a Kindergarten
through Twelfth grade school, which provides their families with a Christian
education. In order to keep tuition low as well as keep all financial resources
going straight back to students, teachers are not paid a salary. Teachers
essentially become missionaries and raise support just like the families they
serve.
For the year I am there, I plan to live with
Jenny and Eric, close to the school. I am going with the spiritual and
emotional support from The Bridge Church in Newbury Park. I will be financially
assisted by Thaddeus Foundation, which is a mission organization in the
business of supporting individual missionaries, such as myself, by accepting
donations on my behalf, and providing donors with a tax deductible receipt.
Lord willing, I will be leaving around July
20th, in order to be in Chiang Mai for training on the 31st.
Between rent and other living expenses, I will need $600 a month, with
additional funds for airfare, classroom supplies, and transportation. Before I
leave, I need to raise at least $3,000 to begin. Total, I will need to raise
about $10,000 for the year.
I
have no doubt this is what God is calling me to do. He has prepared each step
of the journey that brought me here and will not leave me on my own in the next
steps to come. He is the God who provides, so if you feel lead to support me in
my coming adventure, here are the ways you can do that. First of all, I need
prayer. This will not be an easy year, between moving to a foreign country
where I don’t know the language or culture, and my first year of teaching.
As for financially, one-time donors are greatly
appreciated, however I would also really love to establish a solid foundation
of monthly supporters for year ahead.
If you would like to support me, all donations are tax-deductible and
you can follow the instructions below to donate:
1.
All
checks are to be
made out to: Thaddeus
Foundation
2.
Do
not write my name on the check. Please send a separate card is that
says, “For the Ministry of Marie Yeary’s support.” On this, please write the
amount donated and check either: One Time Donation or Monthly Support Donation
(Thaddeus will then forward this to me.)
3.
Send
check to Thaddeus Foundation.

Other
ways you can get involved:
1.
Pass
this information on to people who are passionate about praying for and
supporting missions! (or give my info to
your church's missions pastor).
2. I
will be having a garage sale on July 14 to raise money. I would love any and
all donations of your old, usable things to sell. I will pick up items on or before
July 11. Please email or call to arrange for pick up times.
I need your support in order to be able to follow God’s
calling for the next year of my life. I greatly appreciate prayer and financial
support, as both will be crucial to the success of this adventure.
If you have any questions at all, please feel free to email me at marie.yeary@gmail.com.
