100th day of School!

It's a party! We've been in school for 100 days (well 102 now)! For those of you not in the primary education world, Kindergarten to Second graders are focused on learning about place value up to the hundreds place in math. Most classrooms have a days of school place value chart that is changed daily to count the days of school. the 100th day of school is a big deal. And that's no different in Thailand! So to celebrate, the Kindergarten to Second grade classes got together and rotated through activities which all involved the kids in counting to 100 by ones, fives and tens. They made necklaces with 100 frootloops, put 100 sprinkles on cupcakes, painted caterpillars with 100 polkadots and legs, , bowled cereal boxes to add up to 100 points, etc. I ran the caterpillar painting station and we had a blast! I've been a real live teacher for 100 (102) days!! Whooohoooo!

P.S. That was also the day a student brought in Freddy the Toad as a class pet... That didn't end like my students had dreamt to would. After they had a good time writing a descriptive paragraph about him and how I wouldn't let them keep him, Freddy a 5th grade class pet whom the 2nd graders can feel free to visit before or after school!
